"All mathematicians share ... a sense of amazement over the infinite
depth and the mysterious beauty and usefulness of mathematics."
-- Martin Gardner.
A mathematical perspective on the Platonic Solids, Fibonacci numbers and other topics of Sacred Geometry is given with the focus on key principles that form the basis of all existence. Aspects of both critical and imaginative thinking will be used to show how to make the complicated appear obvious.
We each do math every day whether we realize it or not whenever we make a decision. We all remember some of the math we learned in school, but forgot most of it over it over the years. The best of what we forgot will be brought back and shown to be truth and beauty as one.
"The essence of mathematics is not to make simple things complicated,
but to make complicated things simple."
-- S. Gudder
Mathematical Journey through Sacred Geometry
We seek to find our own sacred space within us - a space in which nothing enters without our permission. No outer world distractions allowed. Only the eternal, true, and beautiful may enter. Even our own ego must wait outside as it prefers the distractions of the outer world. It is where our imagination leads us. Our space is where intuition takes precedence as the limits of the logical mind are reached.
Mathematics in general and Sacred Geometry in particular provide a sure path to our sacred space. The more we think the closer we get. As the universe is in us as much as we are in it we learn about both along the way in thought. As we begin to focus on the abstract rather than the concrete the close we move closer towards the spiritual.
All disciplines express number, proportion, and form in their special way based on the principles of Sacred Geometry in its myriad aspects. Religion, astrology, theosophy, anthroposophy, Tarot, Kabbalah, cube of space, sciences, art, and music are all related through Sacred Geometry principles. For example the principles of three, seven, and twelve are common to all of them.
A picture is worth a thousand proofs and can help illustrate key archetypal relationships from a variety of perspectives. Principles of balance, harmony, alternation, periodicity, unity, duality, etc are forever expressing themselves to us – and should also be expressing themselves through us.
